Instalaza – no sales of cluster munitions to Libya

According to El Mundo of Madrid, Instalaza have denied selling the MAT-120 – the cluster munition fired into Misrata – to Libya. *

So how did the story get around that these munitions, which killed many civilians inside Misrata, must have been fired by Gadaffi forces?

Human Rights Watch and the New York Times, perhaps under the influence of misinformation from intelligence services, were under the false impression they could only be fired from land-based mortars.

* NB (update) - media reports have Instalaza both confirming and denying sales to Libya – we have yet to find any evidence of Instalaza saying they exported to Libya.

The Spanish government should reveal details of all export licences and actual exports granted for cluster munitions.

(Updated to include actual exports)
