The death of Jan Mohammed Khan gives us another opportunity to recommend Carmela Baranowskas’ brilliant “Taliban Country.” The film shows US officers listening to Jan Mohammed Khan. The governor, talking to the US officers, says of one of the local boys who has just been apprehended by the joint US-Afghan force:
“We’ll take him with us for a few nights, he will keep us entertained. ”
JMK dealt ruthlessly with his rivals. He reportedly labelled them Taleban, and sent US Special Forces after them.
