Eid Mubarak to all our readers!
No one can be unaware of the growth of islamophobia in the USA and Europe – a development as dangerous and important to fight against as anti-semitism in the 1930s.
Any doubts about the danger posed by the puveyors of hatred were dispelled by the murderous psychopath Anders Breivik who went on a rampage in Norway, inspired by islamophobia.
It is essential that islamophobia is dispelled and the best way to achieve this is for people of all faiths to get to know each other and understand one another, because understanding and friendship dispels fears and prejudice.
“My Fellow American” is a film project in the United States devoted to recognizing that Muslims are our neighbors and encourages people of all faiths and backgrounds to share a story about a Muslim they know personally.
The centerpiece of the project is a short teaser film that juxtaposes voices of hate with everyday Muslim Americans. It serves as a call-to-action for people of all faiths to stand up against the climate of hate speech and Islamophobia:
Let’s spread the love for muslims and combat bigotry this Eid!
